While we all lead exciting action-packed lives, please take a break and disconnect from the digital world while attending SPLAT. If you truly have something urgent (e.g. real-time preparation for tonight's observing, spouse about to give birth, etc.), then it's ok. But otherwise, please refrain from laptops, smart phones/watches/glasses, etc. and enjoy the time to discuss research with your colleagues.

MIPOW (~10 min + 5 min for questions) = Most Important Paper of the Week (presumably from astro-ph but not necessarily). Be sure to include at least one slide in your presentation which explains the broader impact of the paper, ideally including questions for the group to discuss. Students are encouraged to check with their advisor on their MIPOW pick. If you are seeking suggestions, please don't hesitate to ask. Try to stick to papers that have appeared in the last week, but this is not a rigid rule - "MIPOM" is ok.

One slide at the very end that lists next week's presenters, a.k.a. "Megan's slide".
Hosts: The MIPOW presenter is by default the host of each session. Hosts are responsible for
    1) arriving 5 minutes before noon to setup the presentation and polycom (if the MIPOW presenter is remote, coordinate with the person giving the research talk; if both are remote, contact Dan)
    2) making sure that the SPLAT session starts and ends on time by moderating discussions.
    Etiquette:
Arrive on time. SPLAT will run from noon-1pm sharp.
